May Magic
I don't know about you, but the month of May makes me feel really happy. I mean, it rained all afternoon today, but I still felt that springy bounce in my step that comes with feeling carefree when I went into town to meet my friend Lyn. I wasn't all that bothered by the fact that we couldn't go for a walk. We like to walk and talk but sitting across from each other in the coop eating area was really cool too. The crab apple trees in town are blooming and the tulips are up! What's not to like about May in Vermont, rain or shine? Lyn agrees.
I know our democracy is tanking and I know our planet continues to take a huge hit from terrible environmental policies. And this shit matters A LOT to me. But I also know that to keep up the fight I need to take care of myself and what better way to do that than to revel in what this season offers?
Not only is May wonderful, but it is followed by another five months of great weather and natural beauty. OK, maybe I am not out on my screened porch during all of October, but October in Vermont? Wild horses couldn't keep me away.
I am not keeping a journal of daily joys this month, as I did in March and April. I don't feel I need to focus on joy in that way now. It is simply there, every day. Life is good, life is abundant, and I feel very fortunate to live where I do.
That's all. I just wanted to share my exuberance. Maybe it will be contagious. Rain or shine (with lots of rain predicted), this will be a good week.
